I wasn't born here.

I came to Bradford in 1999 to go to university, and then I just... stayed. People ask me why, and I find it hard to explain to anyone who hasn't felt it. The diversity. The grit. The character. The humour. The sense that this is a place with real bones to it. A city that has been through things, come out the other side, and kept going anyway.

Could I have been put off? Possibly. The Yorkshire Ripper came up at virtually every university open day and induction event that year (looking back, not the strongest marketing strategy). And in my final year, I based my whole dissertation on the Bradford Riots of 2001. Not as an outsider studying a curiosity, but because I was here, I cared, and I wanted to understand. What I found, and what I still believe, is that Bradford has a determination that most places simply don't.

It's the UK City of Culture 2025. It has the eighth-largest economy in England, worth over £8.7 billion. It has one of the youngest populations in the country (34% of residents are under 25). It has two UNESCO World Heritage Sites and more listed buildings than you can shake a stick at. It is, in every sense, a city on the move.

And I'm proud to be based in the heart of it, in Bingley, supporting the self-employed people and small business owners who are part of making this place what it is.

What does a virtual assistant actually do?

A virtual assistant takes the tasks off your plate that you either don't have time for, don't enjoy, or simply shouldn't be spending your working hours on. For most of my Bradford and West Yorkshire clients, that means things like:

  • Inbox and email management

  • Diary and calendar coordination

  • Document preparation and formatting

  • Customer communications and follow-ups

  • Research and report writing

  • Social media scheduling

  • Project coordination and admin

The result is more time and headspace for the parts of your business that actually generate income, and a working week that feels a lot more manageable.

Why local still matters - even when everything's remote

Most VA work is done remotely, and that's one of the things that makes it so flexible. But there's something genuinely useful about working with someone who knows your patch.

I understand what it means to run a small business in this part of the world. Bradford has direct rail links to London, Leeds, and Manchester, a fast-growing economy, and an entrepreneurial community that punches well above its weight. I'm part of that community. I know it from the inside, not as a distant professional who happens to have a Bradford postcode, but as someone who chose to be here and has never once regretted it.

And if you'd ever like to meet in person rather than just work remotely, that's always an option too.

Who I typically work with across Bradford and West Yorkshire

My clients are as varied as the district itself. I work with sole traders, freelancers, small business owners, startups, and growing companies across industries from health and wellness to trades, professional services, creative businesses, and everything in between.

A significant number of my clients have ADHD or recognise neurodivergent traits in how they work, and I've developed real expertise in supporting business owners whose brains work a little differently. If that resonates, you can read more about my ADHD-friendly virtual assistant services here.

What makes Andiamo different?

I'll be straight with you. There are plenty of virtual assistants out there. Here's why my clients stay:

  • 98% client retention rate - once people find Andiamo, they don't tend to leave

  • 89% of my current clients had a disappointing experience with a VA before finding me

  • 95% of new clients come through word-of-mouth referrals

  • No long-term contracts - flexible ad hoc or monthly retainer support

  • One simple hourly rate of £35 - no hidden costs, one clear invoice at the end of each month

Most importantly: I genuinely care about how things are going for you and your business.

This isn't just tasks. It's about making your working life feel manageable. Bradford people tend to appreciate a straight-talking, no-nonsense approach. That's exactly what you'll get.
