August Reflections: Busy, Brilliant, and Building Momentum an Andiamo Business Assistance Blog

August has been a funny month. Traditionally, many of us expect things to slow down — clients on holiday, school runs paused, and a general lull before September kicks off. But this year has been different. Instead of quiet days, I’ve found myself busier than ever, and I’m not the only one. Many of the small businesses that I support — most of whom have been self employed for far longer than me — have noticed a shift in the usual summer pattern too.
Why the change? It could be the economy making people wary of slowing down, it could be that my business, Andiamo Business Assistance, is becoming more established, or it could simply be that my own ever-growing to-do list keeps me moving forward (perhaps I need a Virtual Assistant!) Whatever the reason, it suits me — I’ve never been great at sitting still!
Big Wins This Month
So, what have I been up to? Quite a lot, actually!
✨ The Strings to Your Bow Podcast is now live across all podcast channels, not just YouTube. Hitting “publish” on this felt huge — a real big girl pants moment — but I’m glad I did it. Seeing weekly download reports and listener growth is both exciting and motivating.
✨ I’ve launched a new product — Hustle & Heart — designed to give business owners the confidence boost we all need at times. Running a business can feel lonely, but finding encouragement and support shouldn’t be difficult. I’m looking forward to seeing how this evolves and am thrilled to have confirmed a speaker programme for the next six months.
✨ A milestone moment: I made my first big sale delivering a face-to-face workshop for an NHS Trust. Training is something I’ve always loved, so being able to step back into that world felt like a real achievement.
✨ I’ve secured a new retainer project in project management, giving me both financial stability and the opportunity to support a client with long-term goals.
✨ And finally, I’ve signed up as a voluntary mentor with the University of Bradford’s BREE entrepreneurs. It’s a fantastic opportunity to give back, expand my network, and sharpen my own skills while supporting others.
And yes, in between all of that, I even managed a few days away from Bingley with my nieces — baking, crafting, swimming, and plenty of cuddles. A reminder that balance matters, even when things are busy.
Looking Ahead
If August has taught me anything, it’s that momentum comes from taking brave steps, trying new things, and leaning into the support available. For me, that’s meant growing Andiamo Business Assistance in ways I didn’t quite expect. For my clients, it often means finding the right balance between their passion and the practicalities of running a business while leaning in to the support available. The truth is, none of us can do it all. Sometimes having the right person in your corner makes the difference between surviving and thriving.
So here’s to September — and all the exciting things it will bring.
Andiamo!
