April Musings: Change, Curiosity, and Keeping Calm

April has been a funny old month, hasn’t it? One of those months where time seems to slip through your fingers like sand — you blink and it’s gone.

Between the school holidays, bank holidays, and the ever-confusing British weather (spring one minute, tropical the next, and then back to winter in the space of a single day), it’s felt like a bit of a whirlwind. But a good whirlwind, the kind that shakes things up and makes you pause for a moment to look around.

Work has been no exception. This month has brought new faces and fresh projects, but also some goodbyes. That ebb and flow is part of the deal, I suppose — especially when you're self-employed or running your own business — but it never stops feeling a little bittersweet. Funny thing is, I’ve also found myself branching out in ways I could never have predicted. New ideas, new collaborations, new challenges. The learning curve feels steep some days, but honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It still surprises me how much I genuinely enjoy the work I do. Even on the days when the to-do list is longer than the hours available, I seem to finish the day with a quiet sense of satisfaction. There’s something deeply rewarding about doing work that stretches you, surprises you, and keeps you curious.

Looking ahead, the next few months will be interesting. One of my bigger contracts wraps up at the start of May, and summer is creeping up on us — which, I suspect, will bring its own shift in pace as people switch off for holidays and life slows down (a little, anyway).

But here’s the thing: I’m not worried.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past few months, it’s that staying open-minded, curious, and consistent is half the battle. Whether it’s showing up on social media, making new connections, building out the podcast, or just keeping calm when plans change — it all seems to work out in the end.

So here’s to whatever comes next. I’m ready for it.
